Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the My Lai Massacre. Yet, there were no messages about it on this BBS. Why? Well, I can tell you one reason why. I tried to post a message about My Lai, but MSNBC would not allow me to post it. The explanation given was that I was not using an acceptable browser. It suggested that if I wanted to post messages that I would have to download and use InterNet Explorer. Who owns Internet Explorer? Microsoft, of course. Who owns half of MSNBC? Microsoft, of course. Microsoft is using its monopoly power to prevent people from using the InterNet unless they buy its products. That is the danger of a monopoly and the danger of exclusionary contracts. Eventually Microsoft wants to own the entire Internet and no one will be allowed to use it unless they pay Microsoft exorbitant rates. $1000 per year for the ISP, $300 for the browser, $20 to view a picture file (Microsoft will soon own all the images available), and $100 to read a text file. How much money can one person spend? Anthony Marsh
