   Abstract:
   As he does for untold others, John F. Kennedy looms large in the
   memory of Peter Jennings. In Jennings's case, it is because JFK's
   assassination was the first major US news story he covered as a young
   reporter for Canadian TV.

   But that was many years, and many revelations, ago. Tonight, from 8 to
   10 p.m., Jennings will anchor "Dangerous World: The Kennedy Years," an
   ABC documentary (to air locally on WCVB-Ch. 5) that promises to be yet
   another blow to the tottering Kennedy mystique. (In an unusual move,
   no advance tapes of the show were made available for review; ABC
   spokesmen said it was still being fine-tuned up to the last minute.)

   But Camelot nostalgists are unlikely to be cheered by yet another
   prime-time examination of Kennedy's sexual adventurism, including a
   dalliance with an East German woman who may have been a spy; JFK's
   alleged acquiescence in a plot to have Fidel Castro killed ("The
   evidence is pretty strong," Jennings said); and the overall question
   of why JFK was, in Jennings's words, "as reckless as he was . . . and
   how a president at the height of his powers, who had been deemed
   successful in his handling of the Cuban missile crisis, would put any
   of that in jeopardy."
